Liquid Glass will remain, but it will be revised. When Apple unveils the next macOS at WWDC 2026, a new report says it will feature a slightly redesigned Liquid Glass interface, though essentially the same design iterations the company has always made.

Liquid Glass has been criticized, but as with every macOS release before it, Apple is set to improve and redesign it slightly each year. According to Bloomberg, this year's revision is mainly about how different elements of the Mac look with Liquid Glass.
Specifically, the “light redesign” focuses on improving various readability issues. Where these have arisen so far, they’ve been in Liquid Glass’ transparency and shadow effects, so that’s likely where Apple will be working.
This is the same thing Apple does after every major redesign, starting with the weakening of the Aqua interface in the early years of Mac OS X. It was perhaps most evident with iOS 7, which introduced a very flat design that was gradually refined and refined over the following years.

Speaking of iOS, though, the report also says that Apple's work on the next version of this will include a benefit for macOS 27. Apple is reportedly working on giving tabs in Safari the ability to automatically organize themselves, as can already be done in competing browsers.
Tab Groups are definitely an area that needs attention, and not just because elements of it are better in other browsers. Many years ago, Apple added an option to Shortcuts on the Mac that was supposed to allow users to automatically switch between Tab Groups, but to this day the Shortcut action fails with an “ internal error .”

It works perfectly on iOS and iPadOS, though, so hopes that improvements on those platforms will come to the Mac may still be wishful thinking.
