The tipster 'Instant Digital' today revisited its February design report for the foldable "iPhone Ultra", claiming that the device's internal design will make it the industry's most easily disassembled and repairable foldable phone.

In a new post on Weibo, Instant Digital said that the device's ' incredibly rigorous underlying mechanical logic ' has ' really paid off ', and predicted that teardown videos will confirm previous claims once the device is released. The tipster described the stacking of internal components as ' logical yet elegant ', and said that the design eliminates the complicated ribbon cable routing that usually complicates disassembly in competing foldables, instead achieving what they called ' a truly high level of modularity '.
The comments appear to be a callback to Instant Digital's February 2nd report, which offered several design details for the foldable iPhone, including the volume buttons moved to the top edge of the device, Touch ID and Camera Control on the right side of the device, an iPhone Air-style camera platform, a single punch-hole front camera, and only two color options.
This report also touched on the device's internal design language, which the tipster now claims is even more important than initially appreciated by readers.

At the time, Instant Digital explained that the device's motherboard is apparently located on the right side of the device. In order to avoid running cables along the screen to the left side for the volume buttons (where they are on all other iPhone models), Apple is said to have decided to run them directly up, which maximizes internal space.
The internal structure is said to feature an innovative design, with space almost entirely dedicated to the display and battery. It is also said to feature the largest battery ever used in an iPhone.
Instant Digital has been reporting on the foldable iPhone for some time now. The tipster previously claimed that the device would cost around $2,000 at launch, that it would be eSIM-only, that Apple's foldable displays were close to production in March, and that the device would come in three storage capacities. More recently, the tipster said that Camera Control is being considered internally as a key feature of the foldable iPhone.

The foldable iPhone, rumored to be called the 'iPhone Ultra', is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the fall. The device is said to feature a 7.8-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch external display, the A20 chip and C2 modem, Touch ID, and dual rear cameras.
