The young woman asked him for 100 euros, but he had objections to giving any amount of money before seeing the product
A victim of fraud by a young girl from Chania, she reported that a 37-year-old man from Athens fell for it, who was lured by an ad promising him a cheap iPhone.
As the 37-year-old reported to flashnews.gr, a few days ago he read an ad in an online newspaper that the iPhone 5 was being sold at a bargain price of 275 euros.
The 37-year-old contacted the phone number provided in the ad, and on the other end of the line, the girl claimed that she was selling cheap cell phones because she had stock, however, in order to continue the order for this particular iPhone, she asked for a down payment, as she does in all cases.
According to the 37-year-old's complaint, the young woman asked him for 100 euros, but he had objections to giving any amount of money before seeing the product.
Finally, and unfortunately for him, the 37-year-old relented after the young woman's "supposed" concession that she would accept a smaller down payment.
On Tuesday morning, he went to the bank and deposited 40 euros into an account she gave him, but from that moment on, the "online seller" of the iPhone remains missing and does not answer her phone.
The 37-year-old contacted the newspaper today and was informed that the ad was withdrawn as there were complaints against the girl, while according to information, the newspaper had previously filed a lawsuit against the girl for similar fraud.
Then the 37-year-old, as he reported to Flashnews.gr, discovered that the young woman had previously defrauded other people in the same way and had been arrested by police officers, accused of defrauding 26 people across Greece via the internet, extracting over 4,000 euros.
The 37-year-old said he would report the incident to the authorities and hand over to the police the bank statement into which he deposited the money.
