Auckland police are investigating a group of teenagers who went by the name “Roast Busters” using social media to lure young girls. The boys would get their victims drunk and sexually abuse them. They would often name their victims on their Facebook page to brag about their actions. The page, which had been online for two years, was taken down by authorities over the weekend, the Daily Dot reports.
The police admitted that they have been monitoring the “Roast Busters” for a long time (since 2011), but they have never made any arrests. The teenagers are believed to be between 17 and 19 years old and they published the names of their alleged victims, who were minors. If you search for “Roast Busters” on Facebook, you will see pages with friends of the website that stopped working after the intervention of the police. We present screenshots that show the style of the page…
According to a report by 3 News, two of the individuals involved are the sons of a well-known New Zealand artist and an Auckland Police Officer, which may explain why while the Police monitored the website for two years, no arrests were made.
Police appear to be at a standstill with their investigation, as none of the victims are willing to publicly admit what happened. One victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told 3 News that she was raped by three men at the same time.
