Anthropic ’s latest update to Claude allows the AI chatbot to create custom graphs, charts, and other visual representations during your conversation. If Claude determines that a visual representation is useful based on the content of your conversation, it will insert the image into the conversation, instead of the sidebar.

For example, Anthropic says that a discussion about the periodic table could lead Cloud to create a visual representation of it, with interactive elements that let you click inside the table for more information. Another example shows how Cloud can create a visual representation related to a question about how weight is distributed within a building.
Although Claude will automatically determine whether to create a visual representation in your conversation, Anthropic notes that you can also ask the chatbot to create a chart, table, or graph directly.

Earlier this week, OpenAI released a new feature in ChatGPT that can create interactive visual representations of math and science concepts, while Google Gemini can also create educational images that you can interact with.
Anthropic already allows for the creation of graphs, documents, tools, and apps through Claude’s “artifacts” feature, which opens to a side panel where you can interact with, share, and download the AI-generated creation. However, as Anthropic notes, artifacts are persistent, while visual representations created within Claude’s conversations will change or disappear as the conversation progresses.

You can also ask Claude to make changes to the visuals she creates. Claude's new visuals are now available to all users and will be enabled by default.
