OpenAI is upgrading ChatGPT’s deep research tool with a full-screen document viewer that you can use to browse and navigate to specific areas of the reports the chatbot generates. As seen in a video shared by OpenAI, the built-in viewer allows you to open ChatGPT reports in a window, separate from your conversation. It also displays a table of contents on the left side of the screen and a list of sources on the right.

Deep research, released last year by OpenAI, allows ChatGPT to scour the web to compile a detailed report on the topic of your choice. With this latest update, you’ll be able to ask ChatGPT to focus on specific websites and connected apps for its research.
You can also track ChatGPT's progress in real time, as well as edit the scope of its research or add new sources while the chatbot creates a report. Once the report is complete, you can download the file from the document viewer in a variety of formats, including Markdown, Word, and PDF.

OpenAI says these new features are already available to Plus and Pro, while subscribers to the new ChatGPT Go tier and users using the app for free will see the update in the coming days.
