In select U.S., residents can add license or state ID to the Apple Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch. They can then use the app to prove their identity or age at select airports and businesses, as well as in some apps.
This feature is currently available in 13 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, but is expected to roll out to at least seven more regions in the future.

To set up the feature, users can open the Wallet app and tap the “+” symbol in the top right corner. They should then select ‘Driver’s License and ID Cards’ and follow the instructions.

The following 13 states support driver's licenses in the Wallet app:

– Maryland (as of May 2022)
– Colorado (from November 2022)
– Georgia (from May 2023)
– Ohio (from July 2024)

– Montana (from August 2025)
– North Dakota (from September 2025)
– West Virginia (since October 2025)
– Illinois (from November 2025)
The feature is also available in Puerto Rico.

Future States
Apple and local DMV offices have announced that the following U.S. states have agreed to adopt the feature, but no timeframes have been announced:

Which airports accept Apple Wallet for ID verification?
Apple Wallet IDs are accepted at TSA checkpoints at more than 250 airports in the U.S. for domestic flights. Since Apple Wallet IDs are not accepted by law enforcement and do not cover many other uses, having physical ID is still necessary.
