BitTorrent has just announced a new initiative in the instant messaging space that aims to keep our conversations away from the watchful eye of the NSA and other agencies that monitor and record everything.
The new service will be called BitTorrent Chat and unlike iMessage, Skype and other messaging services it will not store users' conversations on a central server but will use an encrypted, peer-to-peer network. Interested parties can try BitTorrent Chat completely free from here (private alpha).
We recall that in January BitTorrent launched its new, more secure file synchronization service using P2P technology, Sync, to compete with Dropbox and Google Drive.
