Google Chrome has updated its existing “Enhanced protection” feature, adding artificial intelligence (AI), which offers “real-time” protection from dangerous websites, downloads, and extensions.

The update has reportedly been released to the stable channel of Chrome on all platforms. The feature had been in testing for three months in Canary.
Enhanced protection is part of Safe Browsing and has been available for a few years, but the company has now added AI to boost its effectiveness.

Previously, Google said Chrome used “proactive protection” to protect users from malicious or suspicious websites. However, the terminology has now changed to reflect the integration of artificial intelligence and real-time threat detection.
Google didn't provide details on the changes from the older (non-AI) version, but the AI could work by understanding the pattern in real time and warning about potentially harmful websites.
According to Google, the AI protection in Enhanced protection also performs an in-depth scan for suspicious downloads.
On the other hand, users should keep in mind that is browsing data sent to Google when the feature is actively used.

It is also worth noting that Enhanced protection with AI is disabled by default. It can be enabled from: Settings > Security on Windows, Android and iOS.
The integration of AI technology into Chrome’s “Enhanced protection” feature is just one example of how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing online security. As threats become increasingly complex, artificial intelligence offers a powerful solution that can adapt and evolve with them. With its ability to analyze vast amounts of data and make intelligent predictions, artificial intelligence has the potential to significantly improve online security for users around the world.
