Cybersecurity teams in Europe are finding it increasingly difficult to stay informed about new attacks .

52% of European cybersecurity teams express the view that their organizations’ financial resources are insufficient, which may influence another critical issue: 61% state that more members are needed in the cybersecurity team. Lack of funding may be the cause of this need.
The understaffing is compounded by a general shortage of cybersecurity professionals. In particular, positions requiring a degree or related experience remain vacant at a rate of 46%. To address this shortage, companies are trying to hire people without experience or a degree in security-related roles, but nearly one in five such positions remains unfilled.

Shortages create backlogs
The problems are hindering cybersecurity teams from preparing their organizations for new attacks. “Without strong and specialized teams, the security resilience of entire systems is compromised, leaving critical infrastructure vulnerable,” said Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Global Strategy Officer at ISACA.
At the same time, hackers are accelerating the pace of attacks. About four in ten respondents reported seeing an increase in attacks, compared to three in ten last year.
The ISACA organization is responsible for this survey, which involved 1,868 security professionals from around the world, with 22% of participants residing in Europe.

Solving understaffing with AI
