Intel announced that it has identified the source of widespread issues affecting its 13th and 14th generation Core processors (CPUs).
In an announcement on Monday, the company confirmed that the CPUs feature "increased functionality" and that a softwareis coming.
"We have determined that increased operating voltage is causing instability issues on certain 13th and 14th generation desktop processors," Intel employee Thomas Hannaford wrote on the company's forum. "Our analysis of the returned units confirms that the increased operating voltage is due to a microcode algorithm that causes incorrect voltage requests to the processor.".

Intel has announced that it is working on a microcode update for motherboard manufacturers, with availability scheduled for mid-August. Those affected by the issue are urged to contact Intel support as soon as possible. The company first confirmed that it was investigating the issue in April, following reports from Intel Core i9-13900K and i9-14900K owners who were experiencing frequent crashes in their games.
So far, BIOS updates from Intel and motherboard manufacturers have not fully resolved the instability issue, but pressure on Intel to fix the issue has increased significantly in recent weeks.

Path of Titans developer Alderon Games has posted a video on YouTube revealing "thousands" of game bugs affecting users with Intel's 13th and 14th generation processors. Meanwhile, a video from Gamers Nexus states that they "cannot recommend Intel processors at this time due to ongoing issues."
