Writing in his latest Power On newsletter , Gurman said that while Apple Intelligence will initially be free, Apple's long-term plan is to release something like " Apple Intelligence+ ," with additional features for which users will pay monthly subscriptions.

Creating its own AI features as another services revenue stream will allow Apple to offset the slow pace of hardware upgrades and make the company less dependent on hardware modifications, Gurman argues.

Apple is also expected to take a cut of revenue each time a user signs up for features offered by its AI partners, such as ChatGPT powered by OpenAI. Gurman says he expects Apple to reach agreements with Google and Anthropic to offer the AI services with or without a subscription through its devices, with the former expected to be announced when Apple Intelligence launches in the fall as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.

Apple has pioneered the integration of artificial intelligence into its product suite, improving user experiences in unprecedented ways. Siri, Apple’s intelligent personal assistant, uses advanced machine learning algorithms to understand and respond to a wide range of voice commands, making everyday tasks more convenient for users. In addition, Apple’s Neural Engine, built into its custom-designed chips, enables real-time AI processing, including improved photo and video editing, facial recognition, and augmented reality applications. With ongoing updates and innovations like Apple Intelligence, even on a subscription basis, Apple continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible with artificial intelligence, delivering seamless and intuitive interactions across devices .
