How to set up and use Apple AirTag

Then you suddenly wonder how you lived without it?

Apple AirTag

So you have got your own AirTag, but you may not be sure how to set it up correctly. See below the steps you need to follow to set it up and use it.

Setting up the Apple AirTag

  • First, head to your iPhone's home screen
  • Remove the AirTag battery tab (if present) and keep it close to your iPhone.
  • A small Connect will appear on your screen. Tap it.
  • Now you can name your AirTag. You can choose from the list or find a custom name.
  • Click Continue
  • Register your AirTag or third-party item to your Apple ID
  • Click Finish.

How to locate an Apple AirTag or other item in Find My on iPhone

You can use the Find My to locate a AirTag or a third-party item registered to your Apple ID. If you have an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro model, you can also find their exact location .

  • Go to the Find My app on your iPhone and tap it.
  • Go to Details at the bottom right of the screen
  • Next, tap the item you want to locate
  • If the item can be located: It appears on the map so you can see where it is. The location and timestamp appear below the item name. The item's location is updated when it connects to the Find My network.
  • If the item can't be found: See where and when it was last found. Under Notifications, turn on Notify When Found. You'll receive a notification when it's found again.

Make sure you allow notifications for the Find My app and Apple AirTag. See Change notification settings on iPhone.
