Hollow Knight: Silksong listing launched on April Fool's Day, reinforcing its impending prank status
It was April Fool's Day, so naturally a new store listing for the highly anticipated, yet still-ephemeral, Hollow Knight: Silksong appeared. The timing of the listing further reinforces the feeling that the game will never be released and is actually just a cruel joke played on everyone who loved Hollow Knight, which is basically everyone.

Silksong's listing appeared on Xbox.com on April 1st, and while it seems normal enough - this is a day that has become infamous for video game companies pulling silly pranks on their audiences. While these pranks are usually entertaining, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a joke and reality, and since Silksong was first revealed in 2019 and doesn't yet have a firm release date, you can't help but feel like you're being played a personal prank by Team Cherry.

Of course, this is probably just a regular store listing, with the release timing being completely coincidental, though it's fun to speculate that it could be something more. While Xbox.com received a new store listing for the game, Hollow Knight: Silksong's listing on the Nintendo eShop and Steam has been around for a while, and they're identical. So that probably doesn't mean that any news of a Silksong release is immediately forthcoming. But, the new store listing at least means it's not canceled!

On the other hand, the last time we saw fresh material from Silksong, back in 2022, was during an Xbox presentation.
Does this mean there's actually some new information that can be gleaned from this store listing? Did Team Cherry and Xbox perhaps collude to publish the website on April 1st, the one day of the year that both companies knew for sure that journalists would be fooled? Are they using our experience with years of terrible Halloween pranks on us to send a secret message to the gaming public that Silksong is just around the corner?
Is this all a conspiracy? Probably not, but it's fun to analyze sometimes.
