Strong US support for offshore wind farms

A present-day poll reveals that the majority of residents of the US coastal zones support the development of offshore wind farms.

Citizens believe that offshore wind energy production from offshore wind contributes to the country's energy independence, reliability and economy. In particular, 65% of citizens support the goal of Government to supply 10 million homes with offshore wind power by 2030 and is willing to allow wind projects to be developed in more areas. Given the choice between drilling for oil and gas or Installation wind turbines, residents of coastal areas largely prefer wind turbines - more than twice as much, namely 53% versus 22%.

At the same time, offshore wind in the US is making significant progress. Two major projects in the country are underway, with South Fork Wind lighting up New York and Vineyard Wind doing the same for Massachusetts.

There are also other projects in Evolution, such as Coast Virginia Offshore Wind, which is expected to break records, as well as new developments in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coasts of Oregon, the mid-Atlantic and the Gulf of Maine.

States continue to commit to offshore wind and wind farms. A Communication in January included two new contracts for New Jersey and additional projects expected from New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island through 2024.
