Cisco is releasing the new Cisco Identity Intelligence security tool to improve user security against hackers who infiltrate companies using employee credentials.

Cisco Identity Intelligence is designed to identify potential inconsistencies in the way a user moves through a network company's. If such an inconsistency is detected, an alert is sent to the company's security personnel, who can take action by conducting the necessary checks and removing the potential intruder from the network.
“By analyzing the entire attack surface of an organization's users, machines, services, applications, data, and behaviors, Cisco Identity Intelligence bridges the gap between authentication and access,” said a company executive.

Cisco says it is the first vendor to combine “identity, networking and security into a comprehensive solution” to combat hackers, one of the most significant threats to a modern enterprise.
Hackers use various methods to obtain the credentials of company employees (phishing emails, calls, fake conference calls using deepfake technology, and many more).
If hackers manage to gain access to a corporate network using stolen credentials , Cisco Identity Intelligence will track their actions and check for any suspicious activity . For example, if a company employee logs in from a location they don’t normally log in from, or if a new device is used or an attempt is made to gain more privileges, Identity Intelligence will alert the company’s IT professionals to intervene.
In addition to monitoring usage patterns, Cisco Identity Intelligence can also determine whether a user has been logged into specific applications for a long time. It also checks whether certain devices have attempted to access the network.

If a company believes that the employee no longer needs access to these applications or that these devices are not secure enough, the IT team can restrict access to the applications.
Eliminating unnecessary access points on corporate networks will make it more difficult for hackers to attack companies.
This new Cisco security service is very useful, but businesses need to take other measures to protect themselves from hackers.

One of the most common is the use of advanced security software, which includes antivirus, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems.
Companies also need to regularly apply security updates and patches to ensure their systems are protected from the latest threats. This often includes updating software and hardware.

Employee training is also crucial. Companies are teaching their employees how to recognize and avoid cyberattacks , such as email phishing and social engineering.
Finally, encryption is also useful for protecting sensitive data and communications. Encryption converts information into unintelligible text, which can only be decrypted with a special key.
