At Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung detailed many of the features that will come with Galaxy AI. The company also confirmed that Galaxy AI will be available on the series Galaxy S24 and older devices, including the S23, S23 FE, Tab S9, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.However, it seems that Galaxy AI will not be coming to any devices released before 2023, for now, and the reason may not be hardware-related.
Patrick Chomet, Samsung's Head of Customer Experience, spoke about the company's new AI software.

During the interview, Chomet explained why Galaxy AI is limited to devices that were released in the past two years.
“We want to ensure that, over time, our AI experiences can be supported by mobile performance, which leads to CPU and GPU capabilities. So, for now, we are learning. We take it step by step. We know that Galaxy AI works well in the Galaxy S24 series and we know it will work well in the Galaxy S23 series. But we do not know what the AI usage intensity will be for the average customer and, consequently, how this intensity will affect the device and cloud resources.”
Chomet explains that Samsung focuses on maintaining a quality experience and wants to see how Galaxy AI works on a second line of devices.
“First, we want to ensure quality and performance in everything we develop. Then, we will learn how people use these features and adjust performance. Second, we will apply Galaxy AI to a second line of devices – specifically, the S23, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 and Tab S9 – to see how it works.”

While this is an understandable position presented by Chomet, there is something strange that stands out. Namely, the fact that the Galaxy S23 FE runs on an Exynos 2200 processor, the same as the Galaxy S22 series.
When this was mentioned, Chomet appears to have admitted it. According to reports, the Samsung executive replied: “For now, we are limiting Galaxy AI to devices of the previous generation.”
Thus, it appears that Galaxy AI is limited for reasons beyond the hardware. However, there is still hope that the software will come to devices that were released before 2023, as Chomet said, “for now”.
