“The Apple Watch does not just tell time, but saves lives. Get ready for the shocking health stories.”

Two more stories are coming to light this week praising the Apple Watch's ability to detect potentially life-saving health issues. In this case, two Apple Watch users sent thank-you notes to CEO about their watch — and both received a response a few hours later.
In Wichita, Kansas, Michael Gallegos attributes to the Apple Watch the fact that he is here today – and to his son, Nick, who bought it for him.
In an interview with a local media outlet, Michael explains that he received a low heart rate alert from his Apple Watch, which informed him that his heart rate had dropped below 40 beats per minute for more than 10 minutes. During sleep, his watch also detects an irregular heart rhythm. Thanks to Apple Health to share health records, both Michael and Nick receive these alerts.

Nick takes his father to the hospital, where doctors identify a heart problem that had not been diagnosed and implant a pacemaker.
“They said I was lucky. And, you know, a good choice by my son who bought me the watch. Because, you know, I would never have met him. It would have been too late”, said Michael. “I would never have met him. He would never have met him either. I would have died, probably, during my sleep.”
Inspired by the situation, Michael's son sent an email to Apple CEO Tim Cook, thanking him for the Apple Watch and sharing his father's story. Cook immediately responded with a message expressing his joy that Michael sought immediate medical attention and received the necessary treatment, along with warm regards.

Meanwhile, in Asheville, North Carolina, 61-year-old Christopher Oakley credits his Apple Watch heart data with helping him explain his symptoms to his doctors. Facing a morning chest discomfort, Oakley and his husband rushed to the emergency. Although his heart had calmed down by the time the doctor saw him, Oakley recalled the data his watch had recorded, revealing a heart rate that had fluctuated from 121 to 151 throughout the night. That information was crucial, as doctors diagnosed a mild heart attack and performed immediate surgery.

And Christopher, moved by his experience, chose to share his story with Tim Cook via email, expressing his appreciation for the Apple Watch's ability to save lives. Cook responded immediately, thanking Christopher for sharing his story and expressing his joy that Christopher received the necessary treatment.
And in both cases, Tim Cook's responses reflect a genuine appreciation for users' feedback and a sense of relief that the Apple Watch played a role in timely medical interventions.
