The rumor began circulating when Twitter user @Zuby_Tech noticed updated job descriptions from former Deviation Games employees.
It appears that Fred Thompson is leading the design for an unannounced project. Images of some of the key employee profiles are shown in a tweet from @Zuby_Tech, although it doesn't reveal any details about the project.
Additionally, game designer JCBackfire recently revealed via Twitter that he is currently working for Jason Blundell.
Blundell co-founded Deviation Games years ago, but ultimately left it in 2022.
Deviation Games officially announced this on Twitter in September 2022, but did not explain why Blundell left.
They simply stated that they “appreciate the contributions Jason has made, and wish him the best.”.
Fans will likely recognize Jason Blundell for his work in the Call of Duty series.
Blundell worked on both the Campaign and Zombie modes.

The Zombies action was considered a high point of the series. General Manager Johanna Faries recently stated that the series had "the best-reviewed third mode of the decade" in Modern Warfare 3.

Blundell would be a significant addition. And with many employees from Deviation Games, Sony Playstation could create a similar team/studio.
Deviation Games was one of the first studios to face significant layoffs in 2023.
The studio laid off 90 employees, without an official statement on the matter.
Sony appears to be planning even more layoffs for its PlayStation studios, including Insomniac Games, despite the recent and devastating hack.

So, creating a new in-house studio would be a fantastic move.
However, it remains a rumor.
