Internet Thailand (Inet) Plc said on Wednesday it had suffered its first ransomware attack on its hypervisor management system, affecting 300 of its 2,500 customers. The company aimed to fully restore services to those affected by midnight Wednesday.
"This is the first time Inet has faced a cybersecurity attack of this magnitude, which requires the restoration of its customers' systems," said Inet CEO Morragot Kulatumyotin.

Bangkok Post readers were unable to access the website and staff were unable to update its content from early Wednesday morning until shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Internet Wanchai Deputy CEO Vach-Shevadumrong said a hacker obtained an employee's credentials while the employee was working remotely.
“We have identified 300 customers who have been affected out of a total of 2,500,” said Mr. Wanchai.
He insisted that the company had backup and recovery systems in place, eliminating the need to pay a ransom. He assured customers that their data would not be lost, but the cleanup and recovery process would take some time.
