Proton , the Swiss company that provides various online services with a focus on privacy , is now bringing its cloud storage service , Proton Drive , to the desktop , which offers end-to-end encryption (E2EE).
Proton Drive is available users Windows for today after an extensive beta testing period. The Mac version will enter Beta soon.

Proton was founded in 2014 and initially focused on creating an encrypted alternative to Gmail, called Proton Mail. Since then, the company has released its own VPN, managers password , and calendar apps. Last September, it launched a cloud storage service, followed a few months later by a mobile app.

Proton Drive comes free with 1GB of cloud storage, with users able to upgrade to 500GB with the monthly Proton Unlimited ($9.99), which also unlocks premium versions of other Proton services. There's also a standalone Proton Drive subscription that costs $3.99 per month, which has a storage limit of 200GB.
