A TikTok claims she was scammed by a Verizon store about using her Apple Watch. She was told that a promotion involving wearables did not use cellular service, when in fact it did.

Retailers often offer additional material as promotional items to encourage customers to purchase products or services. While these agreements are usually clear, one TikTok user reports feeling like he was scammed into something he didn't agree to.
On TikTok, user “@Meganmauk” posted a video of her family going to a Verizon store to upgrade their old phones with new models. According to the Daily Dot, during the exchange, a supervisor offered two free Apple Watches as part of a “promotion.”
The family suspected this was too good to be true. However, they were assured that there was no cellular equipment connected to the devices and they were not top-of-the-line models. It turns out that the models in question are Apple Watch SE.

The mother of the family gave the Apple Watches to Meg. Meg decided to give one of them away, but contacted the store to make sure there was no problem with it. At that time, her mom noticed a price increase on bill that was expected due to the upgrades. However, the clerk informed her that the price would decrease again in 23 months.
Later, the family was faced with an unexpected large charge of $600. Upon visiting the store, they discovered that the Apple Watches were connected to a cellular service, contrary to the assurances they had been given.
Meg uploaded two videos to her 216,000 followers, the first mentioning the case and the second detailing the worst experience of her life when she returned to the store and tried to return the watches and was confronted by the same employee.
During the conversation, another employee accused Meg of “bullying,” even though the TikToker claims she wasn’t being loud or abusive. Meg then went to another Verizon store where they agreed the evidence “didn’t match.”

Although we do not know if the issue has been resolved, the message emphasizes that we should carefully check the agreements or contracts we sign as consumers, especially if they include any "free" items that may have hidden charges.
