Developer Jeff Johnson has released a new Safari extension that aims to block web fonts that differ from the ones installed on your device. The StopTheFonts extension is highly customizable, allowing you to create rules for different pages, block all web fonts by default, and more.

StopTheFonts along with StopTheMadness, another Safari extension from the same developer, is a more comprehensive application that blocks various "nuisances and violations" from all over the internet. For example, it can block tracking URLs, stop auto-playing videos, re-enable copy-paste on pages that have blocked this feature, and more.
StopTheFonts is more limited and is designed as an extension for Safari to block fonts on iOS and macOS. Web fonts, for those who don't know, are fonts that are loaded from the internet instead of those installed on your devices. But why would you want to block web fonts? Johnson explains below:
There are a few reasons: firstly, to protect your privacy, each such font loads from the internet and reveals your IP address and very likely information to third parties. Another reason is to make pages load faster, due to their design, with StopTheFonts you will not have to wait for these fonts to load and finally to save bandwidth on connections with limited carrier.
