Despite several price cuts that made Tesla's home charging station the most affordable option available, the electric car company recently increased its cost by 20%. Last year, Tesla shocked the industry by revealing that it was making its EV charging plug open and accessible to everyone, with the intention of making it the new standard across North America.

The automaker is taking a stab at the J1772/CCS combination connector , which has been adopted by nearly every other automaker selling vehicles in North America. It hopes its sleeker and arguably more powerful design will triumph because of its sheer numbers.
Tesla's impact on the EV market in America is unparalleled – so much so that, even though all other automakers use the J1772/CCS connector, the vast majority of EVs currently on the market use Tesla's connectors (now known as the North American Charging Standard, or NACS).

With the advent of its Wall Connector, Tesla is making a concerted effort to promote and expand the use of its Wall Connector. Last year, Tesla took its business to the next level by expanding its product distribution and selling the Wall Connector at Best Buy as well as through its own website.
Tesla has also dramatically reduced the cost of its charging station over time. The Tesla Wall Connector, a 48-amp, Level 2 home charging station, already has a reasonable price tag of $400. But in December 2020, Tesla decided to make this product even more affordable, dropping its price to $350!
Within just a month, however, Tesla dramatically raised its price by 20% and now lists it on its website for $425.
Best Buy appears to have Tesla Wall Connectors in stock, considering the short delivery window – and the price has been increased to $425.
