Instagram removes Shop from the navigation bar

On Monday, Instagram said it would reposition the Create and replace the Shop in the center of the main navigation bar.

On Monday, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced that the company is committed to “simplifying” the app and bringing people closer together through what they’re passionate about. The navigation bar has been reorganized to display Home ,Search ,Create ,Reels , and Profile in that order. The new changes.

When asked for comment, Meta - owner of Instagram - did not respond.

As the Store tab disappears, Adam Mosseri assures us that we can still buy items through Feeds, Stories, Reels , and Ads. Instagram said on its help page that it will work diligently to provide the greatest value for people and businesses when it comes to shopping experiences across Feeds, Stories, Reels, and Ads.

In 2020, TechCrunch reported that the long-awaited Shop and Reels tabs were added to the Instagram app's navigation bar. The option to modify the navigation bar, replacing the Create and Activity features with new tabs, was met with some backlash from users, who felt that it prioritized businesses and influencers.

To make room for the Create tab, the Reels tab will be shifted one spot to the right in the navigation bar.

Recently, leading figures like Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have publicly accused Instagram of putting too much emphasis on Reels. In response to a proposed change that would offer a more complete visual experience with support for larger photos and videos, Jenner and Kardashian shared a post on Instagram urging the platform not to “copy TikTok.”

In response, Instagram rolled back the change, but will continue to focus on creating short videos.
