A short while ago, a report by Euractiv was published, which ADAE reports has managed to officially establish the surveillance of independent MEP Giorgos Kyrtsos, as well as that of journalist Tasos Telloglou, by the EYP. Cosmote has released a press release and responds to the report, which states that it tried to obstruct ADAE's investigation.
The publication states that sources tell Euractiv that ADAE visited the Cosmote company yesterday, Thursday, December 15.
The European media outlet reports that the independent authority encountered difficulties in carrying out the audit. Specifically, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Greece allegedly tried to block the audit by saying that it was illegal, Euractiv reports, apparently referring to Isidoros Dogiakos.
Several sources confirmed that the company's legal advisor, after consultation with the CEO, attempted to stop the audit by questioning the authority's jurisdiction. Cosmote also reportedly informed them that it would contact the president of the Supreme Court, Isidoros Dogiakos, to receive orders.
COSMOTE responded to the above allegations and says: “Following publications referring to COSMOTE and a relevant audit by ADAE, the company clarifies that it is in no way true that the Authority’s work was obstructed, nor that its competence was questioned. COSMOTE expressed concern about the audit process, as the relevant law has recently changed. In any case, the audit proceeded smoothly and continues. COSMOTE always cooperates with all competent Authorities in accordance with the Constitution and the laws.”
