YouTube is getting a new look and some additional features. First, it will feature pinch-to-zoom on both the iOS and Android apps. This lets you take a closer look at videos. The feature was first tested with Premium users in August and is now available to all YouTube users.

YouTube will also be rolling out a new feature that will allow users to jump to a specific point in a video they want to watch. They can drag their cursor or swipe up to view a series of thumbnails while browsing a video. This will help users follow a tutorial without having to constantly go back to see a step.

On the visual front, there's a new ambient mode that blurs the app's background color to match the blurred colors in the videos. YouTube UX director Nate Koechleydescribes it in a post as creating a subtle effect through dynamic color sampling that puts more emphasis on the content.

Ambient mode will also be available in video playlists. You'll see ambient mode enabled when you have dark theme enabled on watch pages on the web and mobile. At this point, dark mode will soon look even darker on the web, mobile , and smart TVs.

In addition, YouTube has made another major change: YouTube links in video descriptions will be changed to buttons. The service has worked to minimize distractions, changing common actions like like, share, and download. In addition, the subscribe button will have a new look. Although the button will no longer be red, YouTube says the high-contrast redesign will help it stand out more on watch pages and channel pages.
YouTube is in the process of implementing these changes. They will be available to everyone in a few weeks.
