Ford its September 2022 sales results, showing strong demand for its electric vehicles (EVs). Despite ongoing supply issues, Ford's electric vehicle sales tripled (+197.3%) from last year, giving the American automaker a 3.1% market share. It aims to sell 600,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2023.
Growing demand for Ford electric vehicles has significantly boosted the company
Despite overall sales down nearly 9% from September 2021, there is strong demand for Ford's electric vehicles . EV sales increased 197.3% year-over-year, and the company sold a total of 4,691 electric vehicles in September.

So, strong interest in Ford's new electric vehicles helped offset the company's weak sales in September. As is well known, automakers, including Ford, are still facing supply chain and parts shortages.
It is worth noting that Ford saw a significant decrease (18.3%) in truck sales, the vehicles that previously had the highest sales.
In terms of electric vehicles, Ford has sold a total of 8,760 vehicles since the introduction of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck in June.The all-electric Mustang Mach-E also continues to see strong demand despite being on the market for nearly three years. Ford sold 2,324 Mach-Es in September, up 47% from last year (28,089 total in 2022). Ford’s third and final electric vehicle, the E-Transit that customers began receiving earlier this year, dominates its market with more than 90% share. The E-Transit remained the best-selling electric van through September (4,387 since launch).

Ford gained 3.1% EV market share in September, taking its market share to 7% of the total. However, with 41,236 electric vehicle to date and lingering supply chain issues, it is uncertain whether it will be able to sell the 600,000 vehicles it wants by the end of 2023.
However, Ford plans to increase production of its electric vehicles and bring more EVs to its customers in the coming years.
