Apple CEO Tim Cook often talks about how excited he is about AR, but now he also emphasized how the company is working to build AR products that put "humanity at the center.".

Tim Cook often talks about being excited about AR and what it can offer, without ever mentioning anything about Apple's AR plans. In a brief new interview, however, he talked about the future of AR and touched on the challenges Apple sees.

“I’m incredibly excited about AR, as you may know,” he told China Daily, “and the crucial thing for any technology including AR is to put humanity at the center. And that’s what we focus on every day.”
“Right now, for example, we have over 14,000 ARKit apps in the App Store that are delivering AR experiences to millions of people around the world,” he continued. “But I think even so, we’re still in the early stages of how this technology will evolve .”
“I couldn't be more excited about the opportunities we've seen in this space,” Cook said, “and kind of stay tuned and you'll see what we have to offer.”.
Previously, Cook had said that AR should avoid “distracting [users] from the physical world and your physical relationships.”.

It's no secret that Apple VR has been in the works for some time now, and numerous leaks and rumors suggest that Apple is planning to unveil some kind of mixed reality headset in the near future. Analyst and expert Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple could debut the headset in January of next year.
