Apple unveiled iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura during the WWDC 2022 keynote. One of the notable features for users living in foreign countries is support for additional languages in Apple Translate. The company said that these operating systems will also start including Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, Polish, Indonesian, and Dutch in the Translate app. Additionally, these languages will work when you use the system-wide translation feature. Initially, these languages were missing from the first developer betas — which the company created right after the keynote. It appears that Apple is now rolling out the mentioned languages as a server-side change.

We’ve discovered that Apple Translate has now started supporting Turkish, Thai, Polish, Indonesian, and Dutch. For now, Vietnamese is missing from the app. As long as users are running iOS 16 beta 1, they should be able to see this change without installing a newer beta version of the OS. Interestingly, the Apple Translate app still lacks the new languages in iPadOS 16. However, they are supported through the system -wide translation feature . In the case of the Mac , the new additions are completely absent from the macOS Ventura developer beta 1 for now.

Apple Translate lags behind Google's solution. However, the new language support is still a very welcome change. After all, Google has been working on its translation tool for a much longer time and has had time to dominate the market and improve its accuracy . How accurate the new languages in Apple Translate are remains to be seen.

In addition to that, iOS 16 also introduces a number of visual changes. These include a revamped lock screen with widgets and 3D wallpaper. The operating system is currently in beta testing and is expected to be available to the public this fall — possibly in mid-September.
