Ford has previously touted the new F-150 Lightning's bi-directional charging capability, which allows owners to use the truck's massive battery to charge other electric vehicles. And now the company is including a new accessoryso truck owners can recharge Tesla vehicles as well.

A member of an online forum for new F-150 Lightning owners shared a photo of the new accessory, a J1772 adapter for Tesla vehicles from an EV charging company called Lentz. The owner was surprised because the adapter wasn't included in the standard accessories that would come with the new truck.
While most electric vehicles have a standard J1772 charging connector, Tesla requires a proprietary connector found on Supercharger . However, the company recently announced plans to open its chargers to non-Tesla electric vehicles.

F-150 Lightning owners were positive about the idea of recharging Tesla vehicles.
Since its debut a year ago, Ford has been touting the F-150 Lightning’s Pro Power Onboard generator feature. All variants of the truck can output up to 2.4 kilowatts from various outlets in the trunk, cabin and bed. As an additional option for certain trims, the capacity increases to 9.6 kilowatts. The higher-powered version includes a 240-volt outlet, which can be used for a variety of higher-power needs, including charging another EV at 7.2 kilowatts.

A Ford spokesperson was coy about the Tesla adapters, declining to even mention the EV company by name in an email. “The F-150 Lightning can charge other EVs using its bi-directional charging capability, and we are shipping our first Lightnings with adapters so F-150 Lightning customers can help out if needed,” the spokesperson said.
