The issue has affected a growing number of users on Apple's support forum. When attempting to update, users receive a message that says "The Apple Studio Display firmware could not be updated . Please try again in an hour. If the problem persists, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider." Subsequent attempts then fail, even when connecting via another computer.

The Studio Display is starting to draw criticism for its refresh rate , relatively high price, and mediocre webcam. Apple has promised to fix the camera via a firmware update, but so far it hasn't mentioned a timeline. The Studio Display packs an A13 Bionic chip (the same as the iPhone 11) and runs a full version of iOS 15.4. As such, the fixes are arriving as part of an iOS, allowing users to update it via System Preferences in macOS.
Apple Studio Display firmware updates now work
Firmware update version 15.4 is now working – although it still doesn't fix the webcam. Apple says that's coming.
