Call of Duty: Vanguard, the latest installment in Activision's multiplayer FPS mega-series, will be free to play for a limited time, following low post-launch sales.

The multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Vanguard will be free for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC from March 30 to April 13. During this two-week period, you will have access to a selection of Vanguard maps and features.
Casablanca and Gondola – two maps released in the game's current season of content – will be included, along with The Alps, which features the new objective-based Arms Race game mode. A rotating map playlist will also allow you to jump to a number of other Vanguard maps and older Call of Duty classics, including Shipment.

Vanguard was released late last year to mixed reviews. While Vanguard was the best-selling game of 2021, its sales were down 36.1% compared to 2020's Black Ops Cold War. The release of this free trial is not surprising in light of this commercial performance.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Activision could skip Call of Duty 2023, breaking its established annual release cycle in response to Vanguard's disappointing sales figures. If this proves to be the case, it would be the first time in two decades that a new Call of Duty has not been released on an annual cycle.
Activision is likely trying to shore up Vanguard's player base with this two-week free trial and gain the support the game failed to garner when it first launched, but for players, it simply means they can try out the latest Call of Duty without paying a dime.

You'll be able to download the free trial on console via the Xbox and PlayStation stores, as well as from the Battle.net launcher on PC.
