Intel: Core i9-12900KS is the "fastest desktop processor"

Η Intel revealed the new Core i9-12900KS "Special Edition" CPU claiming that it is "the fastest processor desktop in the world". It is a new addition to the Alder Lake series, the company's 12th generation processors, and promises excellent performance. Like the Core i9-12900K, the new processor comes with 16 cores, including eight Performance cores and eight Efficient cores. It also comes with 24 threads and 30MB L3 cache. Also, Intel increased the clock speed from 5.2 GHz to 5.5 GHz increasing the power from 125 to 150 watts.

Intel's new "fastest desktop processor" comes about five months after the release of the original Intel Core i9-12900K, considered one of the best CPUs for gaming right now. Intel wants to hit the AMD, bringing the Core i9-12900KS to the shelves earlier. Intel's processor will be released on April 5, while the Ryzen 7 5800X3D will be released on April 20.

AMD recently said that the processor Ryzen 7 5800X3D will be the world's fastest gaming processor, claiming that its 3D V-Cache will allow it to beat Intel's Core i9-12900K processor. However, Intel is coming into the game strong and bringing its new model to the top, as it comes with a higher clock speed (5.5 GHz compared to 4.5 GHz).

Testing will show if Intel is right and if the new Core i9-12900KS is indeed the fastest desktop processor in the world. On the other hand, many are also waiting to see the long-awaited Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 desktop chips to be released by AMD in the second half of 2022.

As for the price, the Core i9-12900KS will cost (at least) 739 $ when it is released on April 5.
