For quite some time we have been waiting for the sequel to The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. Nintendo announced it for the first time in 2019 and shared a trailer for it at E3 last year, saying that it promises to be released in 2022. At that time it seemed too good to be true, and now Nintendo has officially crushed any hope of Breath Of The Wild 2 being released soon.

The sequel of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was moved to spring 2023, Nintendo announced in a short video released today.
“We had announced that we intended this game to be released in 2022”, said the producer of the Zelda series, Eiji Aonuma. “However, we decided to extend the development time a little and move the release to spring 2023. To those of you who were looking forward to its release this year, we apologize.”
The sequel of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild—which those who know call BotW 2—was announced for the first time at E3 2019. Then two years passed before the trailer appeared.

After a non-appearance at the Game Awards in December, the "botw 2" started to become popular on social media because three years after the company's announcement, Nintendo has not revealed the official name of the game. (The title is currently hidden because it may possibly reveal key details about the game's narrative.)
The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the centerpiece of Nintendo's impressively packed release lineup for the year, along with games like Splatoon 3, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3, Mario Strikers, and a new generation of Pokémon games, Scarlet and Violet editions. Even without BotW 2, Switch players have a lot to look forward to.

“In order to make the experience of this game something special, the entire development team is working diligently on this game, so expect a little longer”, said Aonuma.
