Apple today announced that Arizona residents can now add their driver’s license or ID card to the Wallet app on Apple Watch their making it easier than ever to show that ID to law enforcement. Arizona is the first U.S. state to offer this feature to residents, but more states will follow.
Apple said the feature will soon be available in Colorado, Hawaii, Mississippi, Ohio, and Puerto Rico. Other regions will also offer the feature, but no timeframe was given for those states.

Here is the full list of US states and territories that have committed to offering driver's license and ID in the Wallet app on iPhone:

- Kentucky
- Maryland

- Puerto Rico
A number of other states, including Delaware, Florida, and Louisiana, already offer their own digital ID apps on the App Store and could work with Apple to integrate them into the Wallet app. However, Apple has yet to announce partnerships with any of these states.

Apple reportedly lobbied New York about IDs in the Wallet app last year, but it's still unclear whether New York will support the feature.
“We look forward to working with many more states and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to bring IDs in the Wallet app to users across the U.S.,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. At this time, Apple has not said whether it will expand the feature to other countries.
The feature is available on iPhone 8 or later with iOS 15.4. On Apple Watch, the feature is supported by Apple Watch Series 4 or later with watchOS 8.4 or later.
Residents of participating countries can tap the "+" button in the top right corner of the Wallet app, select "Driver's License or State ID," and follow the instructions for the setup and verification process. The user will also be required to take a photo of their face and scan the front and back of their driver's license or state ID, which will be securely provided to the state for verification.

With their driver’s license and ID in the app, users can simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch on an ID reader at select TSA security checkpoints at select airports. Users will see a message on their device displaying the specific information requested by TSA. They will need to use Face ID or Touch ID to provide this information.
