Apple finally announced the Apple Watch Series 7 on Tuesday after several rumors about the next generation of its smartwatch. However, contrary to what the rumors had suggested, the Apple Watch Series 7 does not feature an all-new design. It appears that this year's Apple Watch has the same processor as the Apple Watch Series 6 2020.

During the presentation, Apple didn't say a word about the performance of the Apple Watch Series 7. Normally the company says its new devices are faster or more energy efficient, but nothing was said about the Series 7 on stage. And if you go to Apple's website, there's no mention of the chip powering the Apple Watch Series 7.
Now, developer Steve Troughton-Smith has confirmed based on the latest version of Xcode that the Apple Watch Series 7 has the same CPU as last year's Apple Watch Series 6.
Both the Apple Watch Series 7 and Apple Watch Series 6 feature the CPU “t8301,” which is the codename for the processor found in the “Apple S6” System in a Package (SiP). Since they have the exact same internal number, this suggests that the Series 7 and Series 6 share the same internals when it comes to the CPU.
This isn't the first time Apple has reused one of its processors in another product. However, as developer Guilherme Rambo notes, Apple isn't even using a slightly revised version of the CPU . The fact that the Series 7 has the exact same chip as its predecessor could confirm some theories that Apple revised this year's Apple Watch at the last minute.

While the iPhone 13 and iPad mini 6 will ship next week, Apple said the Apple Watch Series 7 will be available later this year without further details. Detailed specifications for the product were also not revealed.
