Twitter has suspended the account of Marjorie Taylor Greene, a member of the United States House of Representatives, for a week after violating the platform's rules. Through her tweet, the congresswoman spoke out against the COVID-19 vaccine.
Greene said in a recent tweet that the Food and Drug Administration “should not approve COVID vaccines.” She also claimed that vaccines “failed” and were ineffective in reducing the spread of the virus.

In response, Twitter labeled the tweet as misleading and disabled the Republican congresswoman's account.
A Twitter spokesperson said the tweet “was flagged as misleading under our COVID-19 Misinformation Policy. The account will be read-only for one week due to repeated violations of the Twitter Rules.”

The suspension marks at least the third and harshest punishment Twitter has imposed on Marjorie Taylor Greene for sharing misinformation. In January, the congresswoman was blocked from Twitter for 12 hours for sharing conspiracy theories about the Georgia Senate election, a move the company said violated its integrity policy.
On the other hand, in July, Twitter suspended the MP's account again for 12 hours for sharing misinformation about Covid-19 and vaccines. Her Twitter account was also suspended in March, but was soon restored after Twitter said its automated systems had acted in error.

Under Twitter’s Covid-19 misinformation policy, users can be suspended for a week if they violate the policy four times. Violating the Covid-19 policy five or more times can result in a permanent ban. Twitter declined to say how many times Greene has violated the company’s rules.
