Clubhouse has introduced a new feature text messaging called Backchannel . Backchannel allows users to chat with each other via text message while simultaneously having a conversation with each other verbally. Clubhouse is essentially an audio-based social media app, but no one can deny the benefits of a quick text message.

When you use Backchannel, people you follow can send you messages , and their messages will appear in the main tab. Messages from people you don't follow, on the other hand, will go to a separate inbox. By default, anyone in Clubhouse can send you message requests. However, you can turn this setting off and only receive messages from people you follow.

Backchannel doesn't currently offer many features, leaving it well behind Facebook and Twitter. However, Clubhouse has said it will update the feature to offer more features in the future.
