Cook told the Canadian newspaper that Apple " is not against digital advertising ," it just believes there should be transparency and that users should be in control of their data and know that they are being tracked by apps for advertising purposes.

We're not against digital advertising. I think digital advertising will thrive anyway, because more and more time is being spent online. And digital advertising will do well anyway. The question is, should we allow this detailed user profile to be created without your consent?“;

When asked about some large companies, such as Procter & Gamble, reportedly trying to get around Apple's App Tracking Transparency, Tim Cook said the backlash was because companies would no longer be able to track users without their consent, resulting in less data being collected to profile them.

The only reason there is a backlash is because you think you will get less data. The only reason you will get less data is because people are consciously deciding not to be tracked, whereas in the past they were not informed.“.

Cook reiterated Apple that privacy is a "fundamental human right" and expressed his belief that privacy regulations around the world will eventually follow App Tracking Transparency.
