Google on Tuesday announced several new features coming to the Google Maps app. The coolest feature will help you find your way around indoors like airports, shopping malls, and train stations using augmented reality.
The updated Live View AR feature, which gives you directions as you look at your phone's screen, now works indoors. So, let's say you're at an airport and need to find your gate or an ATM. You search for what you're looking for on Google Maps, and the markers will guide you with arrows and other digital cues.

Live View for Google Maps first launched for Android and iPhone in 2019, but initially only outdoors. You can access Live View by searching for something in Google Maps on your phone, tapping “Directions,” and then, when available, tapping the “Live View” option next to “Start.”

Google said the feature is rolling out first to select shopping malls in Chicago, Long Island, New York, Los Angeles, Newark, New Jersey, San Francisco, San Jose, California, and Seattle. In the coming months, it will also roll out to airports, shopping malls, and transit stations in Tokyo and Zurich. Other cities and locations will support the feature in the future.

The major update to Google Maps includes other features that will be released in the coming months, such as air quality information and choosing the most environmentally friendly route while driving.
