A lawsuit was filed against Intel a month ago , accusing the company of tracking users who visit the official Intel.com site .

The lawsuit alleges that the tech giant illegally monitored communications without users' consent.
Holly Londers filed the lawsuit in February in a Florida court. The case was transferred to federal district court in Orlando this week.

At issue is the session replay software that Intel and many other companies use on their sites. This software tracks how people interact with the site. This means that the companies track and record the keystrokes and clicks that users make, the content they view, and the information they enter on the page.
According to the lawsuit, this activity by Intel violates Florida's Communications Security Act, which says it is illegal to monitor an individual's electronic communications without first being informed and asking for their consent.
Londers said she visited Intel's site about 12 times in the past year. During "one or more visits," Intel monitored and recorded her activity on the site without notifying her.
“The covert surveillance caused harm to the plaintiff, since there was an invasion of her privacy and/or exposure of private information,” the filing states.

Intel is said to have done the same to other Florida residents who had visited its site. In fact, the lawsuit covers all Florida residents who visited Intel's site and experienced the same problem.
The plaintiffs seek an injunction to stop this practice by Intel.
An online review has described the software the company uses as a cloud-based analytics system that allows a company to understand a user's experience on its site. It is supposed to help companies improve their site by looking at how people interact with it.
There have been similar lawsuits against major technology companies in the past, but no company has been convicted.
A lawsuit was filed against Casper Sleep and Navistone Inc., but the plaintiffs were unsuccessful.
Other cases are currently pending, mainly in Florida and California, with companies such as Fandango, Foot Locker, Frontier Airlines, Ray Ban, Banana Republic and others accused of illegally monitoring user interactions.
