An image purporting to show 's third-generation AirPods Applehas leaked online. The image was shared by 52audio. It shows the wireless earbuds and the charging.
The site has previously shared images purporting to show parts of the new AirPods. In November, it published an x-ray image that claimed to show the new headphones. However, it later turned out that the image was fake and actually showed the existing AirPods Pro.
The image that leaked yesterday, however, seems to match what has been leaked so far about the third-generation AirPods. Bloomberg reported that the new AirPods will share design elements with the AirPods Pro, but will be smaller and have silicone. However, according to reports, they will not have some useful features, such as the Active Noise Cancellation feature.
According to 52audio, the new AirPods will feature a pressure-relieving system, the same technology featured in the AirPods Pro. system aims to equalize the pressure inside your ear so that there is no discomfort when using the AirPods for a long time. Based on the image, the charging will not be as rectangular as the one on the AirPods Pro. It looks more like the original AirPods case, but with the addition of an LED charging indicator on the front.
The third-generation AirPods may also borrow touch controls from the AirPods Pro.
According to the latest information, the new AirPods are expected to offer five hours of continuous audio playback, just like the second-generation AirPods. This information differs from recent reports from Bloomberg, which had said that Apple is looking to improve the battery life of the new model to last longer. In addition, the new report claims that support for Spatial Audio , a feature that is exclusively available on the AirPods Pro, may also be present in the third-generation AirPods.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in November that mass production for the new AirPods would take place in the first half of the year. According to 52audio, the new AirPods are set to launch in early March.
Various launch and release dates for the AirPods have been (unofficially) announced so far. Apple released the AirPods Pro via press release in 2019, so it remains to be seen how and when it will release the next generation of wireless headphones.
