Many users may change jobs, decide to stop using a particular email account, or simply want a copy of all their emails . In any case, the one thing that is certain is that backups are essential for users so that they can export their Gmail and other Google accounts using Google's Takeout feature . In other words, they can set their accounts to back up regularly.
However, it should be noted that if someone backs up a corporate account, they may find that their company has disabled Takeout. There are apps that claim to be able to back up Gmail, but users should check policies before trying them.
How can you back up your Gmail?
- Go to myaccount.google.com.
- In the Privacy and personalization section , click “ management Data and personalization” .
- Scroll down to the “Download, delete, or create a schedule for your data”. Click “Download your data”.
- This will take you to the Google Takeout page . Check the box next to Gmail and any other apps you want to back up. Note that some services have buttons labeled “Multiple Formats .” Click this button to choose the format in which your data will be downloaded. Then click “Next Step . ”
- To decide how you want to receive your data, click the arrow under “Delivery Method” to see your options, including emailing a download link or adding it to Drive, Dropbox , or OneDrive.
- You can also choose whether you want to export only once or every two months or up to a year, and you can also choose the file type and maximum file size. If the file size is larger than the maximum allowed, it will be split into several smaller files. Once you have made your selections, click “Create Export”.
Your export will begin. Please note that it may take several days to complete. Finally, you can click “Cancel Export” or “Create Another Export”.
