Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3: The biggest changes

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3_ The Biggest Changes: The changes in the second chapter of Fortnite Season 3 are big. The Fortnite map is almost unrecognizable, there are new challenges, new weapons and more. The failed experiment at the end of last season's event flooded the map, leaving half of it underwater, and as a result, there are new points of interest, such as sharks, Aquaman and more. The weapon changes and new Marauder NPCs are just the beginning. Here are the 8 biggest changes to Fortnite you need to know about.

1. Fortnite's new map has been submerged in water

Of course the biggest change is the map. Old locations like Frenzy Farm and Pleasant Park have been redesigned and now feature bouncy houses, and there are new locations to discover like 'The Fortilla', where you'll find one of the new treasure chests on the island.

2. Brand new Battlepass with new rewards

Each season comes with a new Battlepass and that hasn't changed. With Season 3 being all about water, it's no surprise that Aquaman is now part of the Fortnite universe. Like Deadpool last season, he comes with his own set of challenges that will unlock over time and will reward you for completing them.

3. Sharks and whirlpools are a new way to travel the map

Given the water around it, it's no surprise that sharks have arrived on Fortnite's island. These massive beasts roam the water, so make sure you don't spend too much time taking the occasional dip, although you can use a fishing rod to ferry you around the map on water skis. When not acting as taxis, they can destroy various structures and reach land, so be careful when you're on small islands. Killing them will earn you a new weapon. In addition to sharks, there are now whirlpools, which are found all over the map, and swimming over one will launch you into the air and allow you to use your gliders.

4. Marauders are new NPCs that roam the map and drop better gear if you defeat them

Marauders look like the henchmen from last season, but they're much more agile, teleporting around the map to cause trouble rather than patrolling bases. Defeating a Heavy Marauder will earn you an Epic RPG. However, they're quite strong and appear in small groups without warning, so be careful - if they appear while you're facing a player, things can get tricky.

5. New vaults and bosses to defeat

Now that the island has changed, some of the bosses and vaults from last season have been replaced. So if you want to get your hands on those legendary weapons in season 3, you'll need to visit these locations:

  • The Authority – Can be found in the center of the Fortnite map and is where you will find Jules. If you defeat her you will get her Glider Gun – A grappler, her drum gun and the Authority card which will give you access to the vault.
  • Catty Corner – The replacement for the old factory is now Catty Corner in G6. Defeat Kit to get the Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, and Vault Keycard.
  • Fortilla is located on B6 and 7. It is a huge area where you will find Ocean. Defeat him and you will receive his assault rifle, a chug jug and the key card for the vault.

6. New weapons to try out

The big new change in Fortnite Season 3 is the Charge Shotgun, which replaces the Vaulted Pump. The P90 is also great for giving you an alternative close-range combat option. There's a new Flare Gun and a throwable Firefly Jar to wreak havoc on the new map, while hunting and sniper rifles return to give you some ranged options. There are also some new Mythic weapons: Ocean Burst Assault Rifle, Jule's Glider Gun, Kit Shockwave Grenade Launcher, and Kit's Charge Shotgun, as well as Ocean's Bottomless Chug Jug.

7. Cars and trucks are on the road

Vehicles are often featured in the trailer for season three, but they're not in the game. The trailer's narrative explains that "by the end of the season, there will be new ways to get around," introducing two vehicles - a sports car and a truck. Right now, though, half the map is flooded, so they won't be very useful. It's a similar story to last season's helicopters, which were in the trailer but took a while to appear in the game.

8. Now you can build your own glider with Build-a-brella

In Fortnite this season, you can create your own new glider with the new Build-a-brella option. In addition to the basics like color, you'll be able to change every aspect of your design, like the top, shaft, canopy, and more.
