Coronavirus (COVID19): Virus Symptoms and Precautions: SecNews is a tech blog with current news about technology and network security. However, we are experiencing a global pandemic, so we must inform you about the nature of Coronavirus and its symptoms.
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can cause illnesses such as the common cold, SARS, and MERS. In 2019, a new coronavirus (COVID-19) was identified due to the increased spread of symptoms in China.
This virus became known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease it causes is called Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Cases of COVID-19 have been reported in several countries. U.S. public health groups, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the U.S.are monitoring the situation and issuing updates. These groups are also providing guidance on preventing and treating the disease.
Symptoms:
Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) can appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus and may include:
- Fever
- Cough
- difficulty breathing
- runny nose
- muscle pain
- sore throat
It is worth noting that according to recent indications, there are also cases of patients who have been infected with the Coronavirus without exhibiting any of the aforementioned symptoms.
Older people or those with conditions (e.g. heart disease) are at greater risk. Of course, this also applies to other respiratory illnesses, such as the flu.
Contact a doctor:
Contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and may have been exposed to the virus. Tell them if you have recently traveled internationally.
Transmission:
The transmissibility of the Coronavirus is high. It appears to spread from person to person between people who are in close contact. It can also be spread by respiratory droplets released when someone carrying the virus coughs or sneezes.
Prevention:
Although there is no vaccine available to prevent the novel coronavirus, you can take steps to reduce your risk of infection. Officials recommend following these common steps:
- Wash hands .
- Cover your mouth when you cough.
- Avoid touching your eyes, and generally the points through which the virus can enter your body.
- Avoid close contact with someone who is sick.
- Clean surfaces that you touch frequently (e.g. your cell phone).
- Do not go to work or school if you are not feeling well.
The CDC does not recommend that healthy people wear a mask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. Wear a mask only if your doctor tells you to.
The WHO also recommends not consuming raw meat and not coming into close contact with animals or places where cases of the virus have already been reported.
If you are planning to travel internationally, check the CDC and WHO websites first for updates and advice. It is also a good idea to research the COVID-19 situation in the country you wish to travel to.
