Nickelodeon and Netflix just announced a multi-year deal to produce original animated content based on Nickelodeon's library and new characters. Details are still sketchy, but the companies have previously collaborated to bring us Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus and Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling, and they promised a live-action series similar to Avatar.

The deal may make you wonder why Viacom -owned Nickelodeon is partnering with Netflix when Viacom has its own streaming service and is in the process of merging with CBS , which also has its own streaming service. The truth is that Netflix is funding a large portion of the production costs and it's undoubtedly a strategic move to beat Disney+ , which has just launched.

We know that Nickelodeon is working on bringing us new content, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the return of Blue's Clues. While we wait for more details, we can hope for a series that can keep us hooked and not just kids.
The question is, is Netflix slowly losing ground and while it is currently the trend of the era, will it be forgotten in the near future?
