New app allows detecting tokens and Crypto Keys on GitHub

Coding crypto projects carries several risks. One of them is the theft of your private keys by hackers. Shhgit is a web application that developersto minimize the chances of losing keys. The application was designed by developer Paul Price.

Shhgit is an open-source application that scans GitHub for malicious files and other data. New, inexperienced developers may not be very careful. They may leave various data, such as passwords or private keys in a public repository, exposed without realizing it. This is very dangerous, because malicious hackers are always on the lookout and can exploit the exposed data to gain access to victims' projects.

“Finding these things on GitHub is nothing new,” writes Price, the creator of the Sshgit app. “There are many tools to help with this. But it depends on what you want to do.” For example, some popular tools, such as gitrob and truggleHog, can be used by malicious hackers to find tokens from specific repositories, users, or organizations.

The Sshgit application provides a front-end that displays these elements as they appear on GitHub. This means that hackers can exploit it for malicious purposes. However, the application's goal is to promote secure programming, because users know that their public repositories are not secure.

Sshgit is not only used for scanning and detecting dangerous files. Users can use it to detect information such as ethereum wallet addresses.

The sshgit web application is offered for free. If you are interested, you can download it from here.
