[su_note note_color=”#fcfcd8″ text_color=”#494134″ radius=”1″]The name mathesis comes from Descartes’ mathesis universalis. An attempt to build —starting from the ancient Greek meaning of the words lesson, learning, mathematical— a universal science based on the demonstrative discourse of Mathematics. In our humbler version, the name simply indicates our intention to offer courses that will span the entire spectrum of basic sciences. From mathematics and physics to history and philosophy.
Our mission
If we were to summarize our mission in one word, it would be this: Quality. This is the core value of Mathesis.
Contrary to the prevailing view — that if something is offered to you for free, you have no right to judge it and have demands for its quality — we believe that only high quality is compatible with the nobility inherent in the concept of free; the concept of a gift. Thus, the quality of the courses is for us a fundamental choice, which if we fail to put into practice, all the rest — free access to knowledge, the removal of social barriers to learning, etc., etc. — will be just empty words.
At Mathesis we pursue quality, precisely because we believe that equalizing opportunities in education and learning is one of the noblest goals worth serving.
