Android apps are being removed by Google due to overcharging!

The Google Play Store has created some policiesto ensure its proper functioning. Unfortunately, these policies have some loopholes that some Android app developers are quick to exploit. Thus, they charge users extra money for very simple Android applications, such as barcode scanners.

These apps benefit from free app, which are a monetization mechanism for apps. Through this process, Android app developers allow users to try free for a limited time.

If users ultimately don't like the app, they can uninstall it. However, according to Play Store policies, users must first cancel the trial period and then uninstall it.

But because this term is in the fine print of every Android app's policy, most users rush to simply uninstall the app. Developers know this and most don't enforce the rules. Usually, when a user deletes an app, they assume that the trial period is also canceled.

However, some developers don't work this way. So if a user doesn't cancel the trial, they are charged as normal, even if they uninstall the app. At that point, users reinstall the Android app, pay the additional fee, cancel the trial, and uninstall the app again.

However, security researchers at Sophos Labs said they found dozens of apps that overcharge userswhen they don't remove the trial period. They also reported that some developers are charging between $100 and $240 for very simple apps.

In total, they found 24 Android apps that had been observed using such tactics. Of these, Google took down 14, but most of the apps are still available to this day.

In many apps on the Google Play Store, user reviews have noted several comments about overcharging for uninstalled apps, proving that this tactic brought the expected profits.

At this stage, we expect Google to remove from the Play Store other Android apps that have followed such tactics.
